Sam Brazier returns to Hornets Women for 2026

Rochdale Hornets Women have announced the signing of forward Sam Brazier for the 2026 season.

The 33-year-old forward re-joins Rochdale Hornets from Betfred Women's Super League side Leigh Leopards.

“I'm really excited to be returning to the Hornets for 2026," she said.

"I'm looking forward to representing my hometown club and proud to be pulling on a Hornets shirt. I have worked with Ben Bird and Rob [Rigby, assistant coach] previously, and the positive environment they have created is mega and something I can’t wait to be a part of.

"There's only one thing better than playing rugby league, and that’s playing alongside your mates.”

Rochdale Hornets Women head coach Ben Bird said: “Sam is proof of what we aspire to repeat at the Hornets, developing a player into or through the game celebrating their success and using that to inspire others to follow.

"Starting off at the Hornets and in a short space of time progressing to the pinnacle of the sport, Sam's achievements are beyond question. She cares deeply about the Hornets and the game in Rochdale.

"And so, despite interest from several other clubs, she has chosen to come back and be an important part of our project.

"This obviously started last year when she came back to us from Leigh Leopards on dual-registration and was pivotal in our success. Sam's all-round game is really strong.

"Unbeatable at times in defence and for a woman over 6ft, she's incredibly athletic and will undoubtedly be one of the top tryscorers this year. Sponsors, take note!”
