Law Cup up for grabs on Good Friday

We are excited to announce that the historic Law Cup will be up for grabs when Rochdale Hornets face Oldham on Good Friday.
Traditionally a pre-season game, an agreement between the two clubs means the trophy will be on the line when Gary Thornton's side travel to Bower Fold later this week.
It was last contested in January 2025, with Oldham edging the Hornets 16-14 in a hard-fought battle at Boundary Park.
Dating back to 1921, the game’s original title was the Infirmaries Cup, and proceeds from the game were distributed between hospitals in the boroughs of Oldham and Rochdale.
The cup itself was donated by the Rochdale MP, Mr A.J.Law, and the winners received gold medals, “the gift of Rochdale and Oldham gentlemen”.
The competition subsequently became known as the Law Cup, in commemoration of its original donor.
