Junior Sa’u commits for 2027

Rochdale Hornets outside back Junior Sa'u has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.

The former New Zealand and Samoa international arrived at the Crown Oil Arena ahead of the 2026 season, having spent the previous four years at Keighley Cougars. 

Sa'u has gone on to feature regularly for Gary Thornton's side this season, making a total of 25 appearances to date.

Bringing a wealth of top-level experience to the club from his time in the NRL and Betfred Super League, Sa'u continues to be a positive influence on younger players within our group and has played a pivotal role in driving standards, both in training and on a matchday. 

"I'm so grateful and blessed to play on for another year," he said.

"This is our first campaign in the Championship, where we're coming up against some experienced sides full of former Super League players. There's a lot of work to be done still, but our recruitment has been strong and we're only heading in one direction. 

"From pre-season to where we are now, there are lots of reasons to be optimistic about the trajectory of this group. We're taking positive steps, for sure.”
